A smart parking solution is a mesh of offerings that include platforms, sensors, camera algorithms, gateways, and cloud processing. Its interface provides parking space availability and mobile payment information to customers while also playing an administrative role in generating insights for parking vendors and providing real-time feed for city management. "The manifold increase in the number of private vehicles in India is pressuring existing parking spaces. In its mission to build Smart Cities, the government of India, in conjunction with state governments, is focusing on addressing parking issues," says Rishu Sharma, research manager on cloud and artificial intelligence, IDC India. "Some states/cities have already progressed on their journey to curb the traffic congestion through smart parking. The widespread adoption is, however, a far cry from reality," she adds.
