How Smart City Asia/Pacific Awards Help Accelerate Smart City Development in the Region
This IDC report covered the innovative and unique Smart City case studies across 14 functional eservice categories. These technology-based projects, shortlisted as part of the IDC’s Smart City Asia/Pacific Awards (SCAPA), recognize the progress Asia/Pacific municipalities have made. This process also helps in sharing the best practices that help accelerate Smart City development in the region. This year, we are pleased to present a selection of 63 Asia Pacific Smart City project finalists across 14 award categories. IDC Analysts from across all 13 Asia/Pacific (excluding Japan) (APEJ) countries contributed to the analysis, benchmarking, and evaluation of the projects according to IDC’s Smart City assessment framework," shares Gerald Wang, associate research director, head of Public Sector at IDC Asia/Pacific.Wang adds, "The current global COVID-19 pandemic has further reinforced the determination of cities to create state-of-the-art digital ecosystems with innovation use cases such as remote work, tele-diagnostics, and digital population health monitoring. Several finalists are rapidly driving convergence and transformation of city services through artificial Intelligence (AI), analytics, and Internet of Things (IoT) technologies — all driven by specific outcome-based priorities compatible with regulatory, security, and privacy issues and yet adequately tailored to enhance constituents' usage experiences."
