ServiceNow's Knowledge16 — Connecting IT Software to Sustain Growth
This IDC Flash provides insights on the keynotes and strategy briefings provided by ServiceNow at the company's Knowledge16 event in Las Vegas in May 2016 and on interviews with the company's customers and channel partners. Key priorities for this conference were ServiceNow's efforts to expand the company's platform into strategic areas such as human resources (HR), IT operations management (ITOM), project and portfolio management (PPM), customer service, and security. In the longer-term "vision" category, ServiceNow also presented an approach to a DevOps portfolio beyond the cloud that potentially seeks to encompass Internet of Things (IoT) both as a platform on which to run the company's products (demonstrated with what ServiceNow calls ServiceGlance via a smartwatch but is not yet available) and, over time, as a deployment environment across which to manage service requests and to help optimize performance. We also saw recent upgrades of ServiceNow's broader product portfolio, including the company's project and portfolio management solution to help prioritize initiatives and coordinate with financial management. The conference exemplified ServiceNow's dual focus: deepening the offerings of the company's existing cloud platform for customer and developer engagement and moving beyond that portfolio into key areas of synergy, seeking ongoing growth.
