Ryzen Growth: Will AMD's Zen Architecture Allow It to Grow in the Asia/Pacific (Excluding Japan) PC Gaming Market?
This IDC study examines AMD's market share of the gaming-capable PC market, in light of the recent launch of its new Zen microarchitecture, as well as the branded gaming PC segment within the Asia/Pacific (excluding Japan) region. It argues that AMD should use its momentum from Zen to focus on key established markets within APEJ where it has the most realistic chance of hitting, or exceeding, a market share of 50%. "AMD's Zen microarchitecture is the most exciting platform from the company in nearly two decades," says Sam Reynolds, Market Analyst, Client Devices, IDC Asia/Pacific. "Though AMD still has an uphill battle against Intel to win overall market share, the momentum from Zen and the Ryzen line of processors can be used in select markets within APEJ to allow AMD to make serious market share gains in the gaming-capable PC segment."
