Regional 2015 SMB Cloud Adoption Survey: Benchmarking Cloud Maturity Against Line-of-Business Growth

Regional 2015 SMB Cloud Adoption Survey: Benchmarking Cloud Maturity Against Line-of-Business Growth

This IDC study contains user survey results on current rates of SMB cloud adoption by company size across seven countries: the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, Japan, China, Brazil, and India. A projection of the U.S. SMB cloud adoption by company size is included for 2015, as are drivers and inhibitors for future cloud service adoption. Analysis of the impact mature cloud capabilities have on top-line customer revenue growth, along with how differing hybrid cloud strategies fit with SMB customer segments, is also included. The data in this study is part of a larger survey of small business (SB) and medium-sized (MB) business owners and/or key IT-related decision makers who were polled in July 2014 and a separate IDC's CloudTrack Survey conducted in September 2014.

"The 2015 SMB cloud adoption survey charts a turning point in what has been a rapidly evolving customer segment that has become a focal point for large enterprise IT vendors like IBM, SAP, and Microsoft. Since cloud IT is becoming the de facto standard for software delivery, it is sensible to see this trickle into the conscious of IDC's SMB Survey respondents. While there continue to be differences between small and medium-sized business cloud IT consumption, company size is beginning to play less of a role in how mature a given SMB customer is in its approach to cloud. That said, SMB customers who still shy away from embracing cloud IT are now putting their entire business at risk," says Chris Chute, vice president, SMB Cloud and Mobile Practice.
