U.S. Prepaid Wireless Forecast, 2016–2020
This IDC study examines the prepaid wireless services market in the United States. It assesses key market trends and developments, evaluates subscribers and revenue for 2015, and presents a revenue and subscriber forecast for 2016–2020. In this forecast, prepaid services include voice and data mobile devices, including mobile broadband devices. This forecast provides an analysis of prepaid net additions, ARPU, and revenue. It also provides the U.S. market share of prepaid and postpaid subscribers."Prepaid services continue to shift away from pay-as-you-go plans to monthly no-contract plans as pay as you go becomes less practical for a growing number of consumers," says Brian Haven, senior research analyst, United States Mobile Consumer Services. "Along with this trend, low-cost postpaid plans are competing with monthly no-contract prepaid plans, so service providers can expect to see some degree of migration between the two segments."
