This IDC study provides in-depth analysis of the Philippines' telecommunications services market in 2014 and a five-year-forecast until 2019. The telecommunications market in the Philippines is resilient. After a slow year-over-year (YoY) growth of 1.6% in 2013, the market increased by 5.4% with total spending of PHP 222.8 billion in 2014. The market is expected continue its steady growth at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 2.6% in the next five years.
"Dominated by two big players, the telecommunications services market in the Philippines has been growing steadily in the last three years. Both service providers have been reactive to the market trends by launching the latest technologies and solutions. However, based on the current market situation, the service providers have gone slightly ahead of market demands in the country. Although the two big telecom players retain their positions as the transformational and leading service providers in the region, additional initiatives on the existing services and solutions are crucial to increase market adoption and hence further drive their overall revenue and retain the profit margin in the next few years," says Alfie Amir, research manager, IDC Asia/Pacific.
