People's Republic of China Software-Defined WAN Infrastructure Forecast, 2020–2024

The combination of cloud migration of applications and data, introduction of cloud-native architecture and technologies, proliferation of fiber-optic transport infrastructure, and digital transformation (DX) of enterprises, industries, and organizations are driving SD-WAN, says Bill Rojas, adjunct research director, IDC Asia/Pacific. "It is exciting to see the level of participation in PRC's SD-WAN marketplace by global players and local hardware- and software-centric SD-WAN vendors — all together bringing experience with cloud connectivity, software-defined networking (SDN), network security, ADCs, and virtualized and containerized solutions. PRC is in the early stages of SD-WAN adoption, similar to leading industry players in the retail, manufacturing, banking, insurance, and utilities industries, as well as government agencies and bureaus," he adds.
