Open Source Consolidation Continues — SUSE Acquires OpenStack and Cloud Foundry Assets from HPE
This IDC Flash covers the announcement by SUSE — a vendor of commercialized open source software — on November 30, 2016, that it has signed a definitive agreement with Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) to acquire OpenStack infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS) and Cloud Foundry platform-as-a-service (PaaS) assets. These assets include the HPE OpenStack technology and people assets but not the HPE Helion and Stackato brands, which HPE intends to continue utilizing for branding partner products and services (including SUSE). HPE Helion and Stackato products will continue to be sold under the current branding through the OEM relationship after the transaction closes.
