Mind the Gap: How HR and LOB Viewpoints Differ on Performance Management
This IDC study is the second in a series of studies highlighting the difference in viewpoints between HR and line-of-business managers regarding ownership of various workforce-related functions and initiatives. Data is drawn from a survey that IDC conducted of 501 executives, which concluded in September 2015. The question of proper functional ownership for a number of workforce initiatives is explored by comparing viewpoints of HR managers against those of line-of-business managers. The first study addressed overall workforce topics such as employment branding, goal alignment, and leadership development. This second study covers the various component processes that make up the employee performance function."The purpose of this series of reports is to enlighten HR software and services suppliers about the difference in perspectives between HR, who is the typical buyer, and line-of-business managers as it pertains to ownership of key talent functions.
