This study, which provides IT spending trends and forecasts by company size based on annual sales. Annual sales sizes are classified based on the following four revenue categories of annual sales in FY14 (accounting year): less than 10 billion yen, 10 billion to less than 30 billion yen, 30 billion to less than 100 billion yen, and 100 billion yen and above. This IDC study describes the performance of the Japan enterprise IT market in 2015 and presents market forecasts for the 2016–2020 period by company size (based on annual sales), product, and industry based on the latest economic situation and product information gathered from vendor surveys up until March 2016. Growth in the Japan enterprise IT market will remain essentially flat in 2016, but growth will be negative for enterprises with under 30 billion yen in annual sales, and while there will be replacement demand for PCs from 2017 onward, growth for other product segments will remain comparatively low. "In addition to support for existing businesses, IT suppliers will need to provide support for start-ups using the 3rd Platform (i.e., mobility, cloud, Big Data and analytics, and social technology) for market expansion," argues Hitoshi Ichimura, IT Spending research manager, IDC Japan.
