This IDC study provides an analysis of small and medium-sized business (SMB) utilization trends of servers, PCs, and packaged software by sales channel, based on the results of the Japan Small and Medium-Sized Business User Survey conducted in April 2015 and interview results obtained from sales channels. This study also provides the actual IT spending of the Japan SMB IT market in 2014 by sales channel and a market forecast from 2015 to 2019.There is an increasing demand for 3rd Platform-related solutions such as mobility and cloud from SMBs, and as a result, more and more sales distributors/systems integrators (Sis) are handling these solutions. However, as it is often difficult to propose solutions that satisfy user needs during the sales expansion of 3rd Platform-related solutions, many sales distributors/SIs are unable to achieve expected results. Therefore, "it is important for IT vendors to actively provide support measures to partner companies, such as know-how and best practices that allow the latter to participate from upstream processes, for them to expand their sales of 3rd Platform-related solutions," says Hitoshi Ichimura, research manager, IT Spending, IDC Japan.
