This IDC study gives 10 predictions about the impact of trends in the Japan IT services market in 2014, including changes in user needs, changes in the competitive environment for vendors, and diffusion of new technology.
The changes brought about in the Japan IT services market by the 3rd Platform will be felt in many areas such as the services that are provided, the competitors, the value provided to the customers by IT service vendors, and the purchasing groups. IT service vendors must realize themselves that they are in the middle of a paradigm shift, and they must actively seek to deal with the various market changes. In order for the Japan IT service vendors to survive the 3rd Platform era, it will not be enough to deal with the individual structural elements, such as the cloud and mobility. "Changes in the IT purchasers, increasing consulting ability, and diversification of delivery — there are a lot of areas that need to be dealt with holistically," says Yukiharu Yorifuji, group director, IDC Japan.
