Japan IT Services for Cloud Forecast, 2017−2021

This IDC study analyzes the situation and trends in the Japan cloud IT services market as of June 2017. It presents results for 2016 and a market forecast from 2017 to 2021 by segment. The Japan cloud IT services market posted high growth in 2016 because of factors such as growth in projects involving the migration of existing business systems to the cloud. Meanwhile, the segment that will drive growth in the latter half of the forecast period will be services that support the use of the cloud as the platform for enterprise digital transformation (DX)."There are substantive differences what user companies will expect from IT suppliers between projects that involve migrating existing systems to the cloud and projects meant to support the use of the cloud as a platform for DX. The latter will not just naturally extend from the former. IT suppliers will need to be active in pivoting their business to make advances toward strengthening capabilities and optimizing operations to work on the latter type of projects," said Takuya Uemura, senior market analyst, IT Services, IDC Japan.
