Japan Internet of Things Forecast by Vertical Industry and Use Case, 2018−2022
This IDC study forecasts user spending in the Japan IoT market by industry segment and by use case. There is a growing interest in IoT in Japan that is triggered among others by the growing concern about working population shortage and improved business sentiment in anticipation of the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games. Advancements in the technological aspects required by IoT, namely, the penetration of edge computing, and the sophistication and diversification of connectivity and cognitive, also lead to growth in the IoT market. Furthermore, the keyword "IoT gravity" contributes significantly to the IoT market growth by pulling in and fusing together vendors and IoT user companies that are individually active in each industry segment and the data, knowledge, and know-how utilized separately in each industry segment, just like a "gravity" spanning over industry segments. "Vendors must provide support and consulting concerning how a business organization framework should be in order for business organizations to achieve a unified sense of purpose for digital transformation in anticipation of expanding IoT gravity ecosystem," says Yuta Torisu, communications senior analyst, IDC Japan.
