This IDC study analyzes the industrial networking market that is gaining more attention as the industrial Internet of things (IoT) continues to be utilized, particularly in the manufacturing industry. The differences between industrial network equipment and general enterprise network equipment are defined by their installation locations and utilization formats. Industrial network equipment is often installed in harsh environments. Industrial network equipment is also required to have the same maintainability and network requirements for reliability, safety, and delay and redundancy as industrial machinery. Growth in the industrial IoT also accelerates industrial networking utilization. At the same time, this growth also encourages migration in network connection technologies. Thus, IDC expects migration from the traditional fieldbus technology to Ethernet and IP networks, the shift from utilizing fixed line to wireless technology, and migration to the next-generation wireless technology or 5G will continue."Industrial network equipment market is a segment in which growth is expected.
