Japan Cloud IT Infrastructure Market Shares, 2015: Shipment for Cloud IT Infrastructure Kept High Growth
This IDC study presents vendor shares by segment in the Japan cloud IT infrastructure market, which is a submarket of the Japan enterprise IT infrastructure market. In this market, segments refer to "on-premise private cloud," "off-premise private cloud," and "public cloud.""High growth continues in the Japan cloud IT infrastructure market in which more than 50% of the market factory revenue is attributed to public cloud. However, if we exclude vendors that are global players with high shares in the global market, such as HPE, Dell, and Lenovo, business plans that positioned public cloud with intense price competition as an effective market are too optimistic. Moreover, in 2015, more than 60% of server factory revenue in public cloud was occupied by ODM Direct. If we continue to accept ODM Direct utilization as de facto in public cloud, then it may make ODM Direct price competitiveness stronger rather than weaker. In other words, IT suppliers must reinforce their revenue base in on-premise private cloud and off-premise private cloud segments," says Satoshi Fukutomi, enterprise infrastructure group manager, IDC Japan.
