IaaS/Hosting Infrastructure Services: Mergers and Acquisitions Roundup, 2014 and 2015

This IDC study provides insight into some of the major mergers and acquisitions (M&A) in the hosting infrastructure, colocation, and cloud infrastructure-as-a service (IaaS) markets from January 2014 to June 2015, an especially active M&A time frame. The acquired companies were primarily specialized technology- and services-based cloud solution providers that enhanced the capabilities and expanded the service portfolios of the acquirers. Melanie Posey, research vice president, IaaS and Hosting Infrastructure and Managed Network Services says, "The rise of new cloud-native competitors, the growing preference for agile on-demand infrastructure-as-a service delivery models, and the increasing need for operational scale and portfolio breadth and depth are fueling a new wave of industry consolidation, which IDC expects to continue through 2015 and into 2016."
