This IDC study discusses the business case for smart parking systems. "Smart parking solutions offer far more than tools to help drivers find a parking space. These solutions provide increased control and management of streets and parking and enable easier compliance for drivers, meaning fewer tickets, while simultaneously bolstering revenue for cities via enforcement tools and variable pricing," said Mark Zannoni, IDC research director for Smart Cities and Transportation. "While drivers experience fewer headaches in the search for parking spots, saving time and fuel, cities benefit from reduced traffic congestion, powerful management and predictive tools, and the ability to connect parking to other smart city functions for a comprehensive real-time view of city activities and operations. Accordingly, more and more cities worldwide are looking at smart parking as a service offering they undertake to transform into smart cities."
