IDC MaturityScape: Content-Centric Workflow 1.0

This IDC study describes the organizational characteristics at five levels of content-centric workflow maturity, from a completely ad hoc, highly manual approach to one in which organizations make use of sophisticated integration and machine intelligence technologies. It is intended to help organizations evaluate current content-centric workflow infrastructure and capabilities and identify the steps they need to take to advance to the next stage of maturity. Key stakeholders of content workflow initiatives include executives, IT leadership, line-of-business managers, employees, partners, and suppliers. This document expands on the concepts presented in IDC MaturityScape: Digital Transformation of Document Workflows 1.0 (IDC #US40656515, December 2015). "Digital transformation initiatives are driving organizations to change the way that they approach, think about, and manage critical business content and content-centric workflows. They must evaluate the policies, procedures, and technologies that impact and control content to optimize processes, ensure security and compliance, and leverage content for greatest business value," said Holly Muscolino, research vice president, Content Technologies and Document Workflow.
