IDC MaturityScape Benchmark: Cloud in Federal Defense and Intel Agencies in the United States, 2017
This IDC study presents the results of IDC's May 2017 Cloud Adoption in Federal Civilian Agencies MaturityScape Benchmark Survey and should be viewed as a supplement to IDC MaturityScape: Cloud 2.0 (IDC # 259534 , October 2015). Together, these documents provide a comprehensive overview of the IDC maturity model for cloud. Using the maturity measures and descriptions, readers can: Understand exactly what sets "thriving" organizations apart from "surviving" organizations, based on their maturity scores Understand the supporting processes, governance models, technologies, and skills to deliver cloud-based service delivery models to their internal customers Identify gaps in overall cloud management capabilities based on the key dimensions of vision, technology, people, and process "Defense and intel agencies have made great progress in cloud maturation," says Adelaide O'Brien, research director, IDC Government Insights. Almost half of respondents (47.4%) are either at the managed stage or at the optimized stage, 39.1% of respondents indicate their agencies are operating at the managed stage of maturity, where the cost of cloud solutions is justified, and over 8% are operating at the highest stage of maturity where digital transformation is enabled."
