IDC's 2015 Consumer Devices Survey, Part 1: U.S. PC-Related Results

This IDC study looks at the U.S. PC-related results of IDC's 2015 Consumer Devices Survey. Fielded online in April 2015, the survey asked participants about their attitudes toward and ownership of a variety of consumer devices, including PCs, tablets, and smartphones. Respondents were additionally queried regarding their future purchase intentions for the device categories. We conducted the survey across 26 countries and received a total of 50,244 respondents. Each country had a minimum sample size of 1,000. This document discusses U.S. results around the ownership of PCs as well as the purchase intentions and considerations of respondents shopping for PCs.

"PCs remain a critical part of the U.S. household, with higher penetration among consumer electronics owners than even smartphones. But while PCs are key parts of the home, PC owners see them as long-lasting devices and PC owners no longer value the vendor brand as much as they once did," says Jonathan Gaw, IDC's research manager, Connected Home.
