European Storage Manager Survey, 2015: Open Source Storage Emerges as a Viable Alternative for European Organizations

This IDC study analyzes the results of IDC's 2015 European Storage Manager Survey. It presents the results of a recent IDC survey of 556 Western European storage managers, IT decision makers, and influencers in small, midsize, and large enterprises about their investment expectations on various storage technologies and priorities as well as the applications that will drive storage investment in 2015.

"Looking at the top priorities of European storage managers, it is clear that they are transforming their IT and storage infrastructures to provide better digital experiences to their customers. The need to reduce storage-related costs and expand storage capacities are among the top 5 priorities of European organizations," said Carla Arend, program director, IDC European Storage. "We expect this trend to continue as European organizations continue to deliver their digital transformation projects. Open source storage technologies have the potential to cut storage costs and free organizations from vendor lock-in — key criteria to ensure smooth data migration when upgrading technologies in the 3rd Platform era."
