U.S. Consumer Digital Transformation Readiness Forecast, 2018–2022
This IDC study presents a forecast of U.S. consumers that are ready for digital transformation based on existing levels of consumer engagement with technology and ability to set up and use digital devices independently on an advanced level."At the end of 2017, IDC believes there were 47 million U.S. consumers 18 years or older that were ready for digital transformation, up from 40 million at the end of 2016," says Greg Ireland, research director, Consumer Digital Transformation, at IDC. "We forecast the U.S. digital transformation–ready consumer population to grow to nearly 80 million individuals 18 years or older by the end of 2022. These are consumers that pay for digital services; engage daily with brands, businesses, friends, and tastemakers on social apps; and are capable of independently setting up and using devices on an advanced level."
