U.S. Consumer Communications Services Market Shares, 4Q16: Video Maintains Revenue Growth Amid Share Shift
This IDC study provides a high-level view of quarterly market metrics including subscribers and revenue for consumer landline voice, wireless, fixed broadband, and video services for the leading U.S. communications service providers in each segment. More details on landline voice, fixed broadband, video, and wireless subscribers and revenue can be accessed through IDC's United States Consumer Multiplay and Broadband Services, Multiscreen Video, and United States Mobile Consumer Services research programs."Revenue for U.S. consumer telecommunications services across voice, data, video, and mobility increased by nearly 1% in 4Q16 and approximately 2% in 2016 as a whole," says Greg Ireland, research director, Multiscreen Video and Consumer Digital Transformation, at IDC. "Despite subscriber erosion in some segments of the market — notably pay TV — communications service providers (CSPs) have been able to maintain revenue growth amid share shifts and competitive threats. The pay TV segment remains particularly volatile as telco TV declines and new online video alternatives emerge."
