U.S. Consumer Bundled Services Forecast, 2017–2021
This IDC study examines and forecasts the market for consumer bundled services in the United States over a five-year period from 2017 to 2021. It measures the decline and growth of various bundled services and incorporates IDC survey data to illustrate key trends impacting the marketplace."Traditional bundling of the typical triple- and double-play services has moved beyond the crossroads of flat growth and has moved into a period of slow decline," says Jason Blackwell, director, Consumer Multiplay Services. "The trend of the weakening of the bundle as a significant value-add is now consistently shown in the year-over-year numbers. The continued decline of home phone usage has eroded the importance of the two main bundle varieties — the double play of voice and broadband and the triple play that adds video. In an increasingly a la carte world, new strategies will need to replace this tried, but no longer true, product and pricing strategy."
