Chief Data Officer Role Evolving to Deliver Higher Value
This IDC Flash discusses the evolving role of the chief data officer (CDO). The chief data officer role is becoming more prevalent, finding its chair at the executive table, and now delivering tangible value in many different types of organizations. The vision of what a CDO should be doing — aligning data strategy, vision, and outcomes with corporate goals and vision — is a work in progress, but during a CDO summit event hosted by IBM in September 2016, IDC found that many CDOs are still working on tactical and practical projects, while striving to work toward more strategic and innovative initiatives.
