CLO Survey: Learning and Development Outlook for 2015 — Back to Basics — Leadership Training and Informal Learning

This IDC study examines results from a November 2014 survey of 99 chief learning officers (CLOs). The survey focused on the impressions and opinions of the positive and negative trends in learning and development and CLOs predictions for 2015. As 2014 draws to a close and 2015 budgets are finalized, CLOs reflect on both what has been successful in 2014 and what they expect will transpire in 2015. Armed with this collected wisdom, CLOs, HR leaders, and other decision makers can take advantage of positive trends and avoid spending wasted cycles on outdated ideas.

"CLOs are increasingly optimistic. They see an expanding role for and impact of employee development and leadership development and increased use of competency management in 2015." — Cushing Anderson, program vice president, IDC's HR, Talent and Learning Strategies and Services research
