Business Strategy: 2015 Annual Payer Survey Results — Fraud, Waste, and Abuse Investment and Demand Drivers
This IDC Health Insights report describes the current status and drivers of demand for fraud, waste, and abuse (FWA) IT solution spending among midtier and large healthcare insurance payers in the United States. Current 2015–2016 data is contrasted with Annual Payer Survey data from 2013 and 2014 to illuminate what payers are buying and why. These survey findings illuminate operational hurdles that payers will have to address in the coming years in concert with their external FWA software and service partners."Within the context of reform, investment in FWA solutions has soared. The complexity of payer FWA application environments now threatens to choke growth in capabilities," says Sven Lohse, research manager at IDC Health Insights. "Payers need to rationalize their current capabilities using "as a service" application delivery and outsourcing options. At the same time, payers have to plan and execute wholesale organizational transformation. The full ROI of new technologies can't be realized until payers augment their current reactive, recovery-oriented FWA capabilities with proactive, educational capabilities."
