Australia Vertical Markets Forecast 2H14 Update, 2014–2018
This IDC study presents an updated forecast and analysis of 12 vertical markets in the Australia ICT market for the period of 2014–2018. This study aims is to provide a guide for ICT vendors, explaining which path future demand will follow and trends that will influence end-user IT spending. In particular, specific vertical drivers and trends will be evaluated to provide vendors with insights into how buying and investment decisions are reached in different industries."With razor-thin growth forecast through to 2018, Australian vendors and service providers will need to tighten up their focus, or risk becoming irrelevant," says Louise Francis, IDC Research Manager for IT Spending. The opportunities are there, but to identify them, providers must understand the buying behaviour, triggers for investment, and areas in which budgets are most likely to be increased or, more importantly, will be trimmed." "Australian enterprise organisations are in a period of transition. Most are experiencing disruption in their industries from new or existing players," says Emilie Ditton, Head, Asia/Pacific Energy Insights and Vertical Markets. "Whilst looking for ways to find cost savings and efficiencies is a continued focus, most are challenging themselves to understand how to compete in the new world of the 3rd Platform IT and find the use cases that deliver value within their business process stack."
