Asia/Pacific Public Sector 2015 Top 10 Predictions: Innovation in Government
This IDC Government Insights' study identifies major trends that will affect the Asia/Pacific public sector IT landscape in 2015. This study begins with an overview of the Asia/Pacific public sector landscape and the key drivers that are influencing transformation actions for public sector eservices. Key recommendations are highlighted for senior-level public sector ICT decision markers as well as solution providers that serve the Asia/Pacific public sector IT industry. Notably, these predictions will provide insights into the Asia/Pacific public sector's response to the growing pervasiveness of IDC's 3rd Platform landscape (i.e., big data and analytics [BDA], cloud, social, and mobility technologies). In addition, the 3rd Platform's succeeding innovation accelerators (e.g., the Internet of things [IoT], natural user interface, cognitive computing, robotics) have been also covered.
"In 2015, IDC Government Insights expects government ICT investments to be focused on consolidating and streamlining of scarce ICT resources, attaining better manageability tools for effective decision making, and addressing the urgent need to increase cybersecurity priorities of digital assets," says Gerald Wang, research manager, IDC Government Insights, Asia/Pacific.
"ICT is ultimately an enabler of the organizational transformation. It is, however, most definitely not the technology but the harmony of an entire ecology of government that brings about effective public sector transformation — one that will reap benefits for both the private and public spheres. Therefore, to focus on outcome-based justifications and goals should always be the primary objective of any public sector ICT undertakings," Wang adds. Please Note: Extended description available upon request.
