Asia/Pacific (Excluding Japan and Greater China) Carrier Equipment Spending Analysis, 2014-2016 & Forecast 2017-2021
This study analyzes the network equipment spending (capex) and total capital expenditures (CAPEX) in the region in both fixed-line and mobile networks. Mobile network spending represents roughly 68–69% of the total network equipment spending in the region, as leading mobile network operators (MNOs) in advanced markets built out extensive LTE coverage and outdoor capacity in 2013–2015, while carriers in emerging markets began nationwide coverage expansion in 2015 onward. "The proliferation of <US$125 smartphones and tablets combined with robust investment initiatives on the part of CSPs in broadband wireline, FTTP, xDSL, 4G LTE, and LTE-Advanced will have a pull-through effect on equipment for radio access network, backhaul and fronthaul transport, IT media/storage/servers, and capex services across the region," said Bill Rojas, adjunct research director, IDC Asia/Pacific.
