U.S. 3D Printer Market Shares, 2015: Leaders, Metal Printers, and Up-and-Comers

This IDC study provides U.S. market shares of 3D printer vendors. Market share of shipments in 2015 is dramatically different from market share of revenue because there are suppliers of low-end FFF/FDM printers that sell thousands of their machines for a few hundred dollars each, and there are high-end metal printer manufacturers that sell only a dozen or less printers, but each has a price of more than $1 million. Stratasys is the revenue share leader according to IDC research."3D Systems and Stratasys continue to lead the market in the United States, and while these companies saw their revenue flatten in 2015, both are positioned with wide technology portfolios and a significant lead in product and market development. However, a growing number of manufacturers have carved out their own position in key segments of the market and saw dynamic growth in 2015," said Tim Greene, research director with IDC's Hardcopy Solutions group.
