Over the five years to 2017, the industry has performed due to increasing disposable income levels and government spending in California, as well as continued investment in computers and software from the private sector. Though growth was robust in the beginning of the period, as the number of mobile connection approached saturation and private sector spending in software began to slow, revenue growth decelerated slightly in the second half of the period. Over the five years to 2022, the industry is expected to continue growing, albeit at a slower pace. Mobile internet connections are continuing to approach saturation and, therefore, annualized growth is anticipated to slow. Similarly, government spending in California is expected to slow significantly compared with the current five-year period.
