Sanitary Paper Product Manufacturing in the US
Due to the Sanitary Paper Product Manufacturing industry's production of nondiscretionary goods, the industry is shielded from extreme fluctuations in revenue. However, over the five years to 2018, industry revenue is expected to have declined. This slow decline has been driven in part by the appreciating value of the US dollar, which has led to low-cost imports flooding the markets. However, the industry benefited from preferable demographic changes, including an increase in the number of births and a growing population over the age of 65. Demographic trends will contribute to industry growth during the coming five-year period. Several major players have reported investing in research and development in order to improve incontinence products to meet growing demand from aging consumers. However, despite these trends, revenue growth over the five years to 2023 can be best described as stagnant.
