The number of cars on the road affects industry demand, with increases leading to sales volume growth. Nonetheless, because revenue declined in the beginning of the period, industry revenue is expected to rise only slightly over the five years to 2017. This small increase is expected to continue over the next five years, as the economy gains steam, disposable income rises and consumers travel more.
