Millwork in the US
Over the five years to 2017, the Millwork industry has experienced growth as new construction has boosted demand for building products. The industry has nevertheless been challenged by rising competition from wood substitute products. Over the five years to 2022, industry revenue is forecast to increase, albeit at a slower rate than during the previous five-year period. The residential construction market is expected to continue its recovery and push demand for the industry's products, as rising disposable income will support investment in high-quality remodeling activity from consumers.
This industry manufactures hardwood and softwood cut stock and dimension stock (lumber and worked wood products cut or shaped into specific sizes); wood windows and doors; and other millwork including wood flooring. The reshaped wood products are sold mainly to housing and other building construction industries and their contractors, in addition to other wood product distributors.
