Glucose Meter Manufacturing

Some mass merchandisers and chain retailers, including Target and Walmart, have introduced low-cost, private-label glucose meters, which has intensified price-based competition for operators. Nevertheless, during the five years to 2015, industry revenue is expected to grow. During the five years to 2020, industry revenue is forecast to grow. In 2013, the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) implemented more stringent accuracy requirements for blood glucose meters, inciting the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to update its standards in 2014. In response to more regulations, glucose meter manufacturers will contend with developing more accurate glucose meters, while also producing low-cost equipment that is accessible to many users.

This industry develops and produces blood glucose meters and testing supplies that help users monitor blood glucose levels. Most manufacturers also develop other medical devices.
