Fine Arts Schools in the US
The Fine Arts Schools industry includes institutions that provide recreational instructions in dance, music, theater and visual arts to the general public and exclude fine arts academic programs. Over the five years to 2019, this industry has benefited from rising levels of per capita disposable income, which enable a greater number of US households to afford fine arts classes. Industry growth has been reinforced by higher contributions from corporate donors, in conjunction with rising demand from young children, adolescents and college students. Industry revenue is largely driven by the ability of everyday consumers to invest in fine arts classes as a form of leisure and education. Over the past five years, per capita disposable income has increased, making industry services relatively more affordable for a greater number of US consumers. Over the five years to 2024, improving levels of disposable income and corporate profit will continue to drive industry growth, albeit a slower rate due to declining levels of government funding for creative arts. It will force industry institutions to rely more heavily on volunteer workers and donations from corporations and individuals to remain in business.
This industry includes establishments that offer instruction in the fine arts, including dance, drama, music and the visual arts. The industry does not include programs that offer academic degrees or diplomas. Commercial and graphic arts and commercial photography instruction are also excluded from this industry, as these subjects are accounted for in the Trade and Technical Schools industry (IBISWorld report 61151).
