Excavation Contractors in the US
The Excavation Contractors industry derives more than three-fourths of its revenue from the private residential and nonresidential building market. The remainder stems from the excavation of land in nonbuilding construction markets (e.g. sports fields, roadwork and water supply facilities). Industry revenue has expanded over the five years to 2019, supported by increasing demand from downstream construction-related industries. In particular, improved performance corresponded with the rapid expansion in demand for excavation services in the booming housing and nonresidential building markets. Furthermore, industry profit is also expected to have increased over the past five years, in line with the recovering economy. Over the five years to 2024, industry revenue is forecast to continue to rise, albeit at a slower rate. Decelerating revenue growth can be attributed to the project deceleration of the value of residential construction during the outlook period.
