Engineering Services in Texas
Over the five years to 2017, industry demand has grown in line with industry revenue, as the overall Texas economy has steadily improved. Also, increases in the private nonresidential and residential construction sectors in Texas prompted strong revenue growth during the period. Since construction activity requires a substantial amount of engineering services during the planning and development phase, growth in the value of private nonresidential and residential construction has bolstered demand for the engineering services in the state. Positive industry conditions are projected to slow over the five years to 2022 as construction activity growth levels out. However, manufacturing GDP is projected to grow at an even faster rate over the next five years, increasing demand for engineering services that are used for industrial and manufacturing purposes. Also, the value of private nonresidential and residential construction is projected to continue growing, albeit at a slower rate than over the five years to 2017.
