Engineering Services in the US
Over the five years to 2018, the industry has performed modestly, with industry revenue growing largely in pace with the US economy at large. Revenue growth has primarily been a result of an increase in the value of private residential construction, which can be used as a proxy for demand for industry services. During the same period, the value of private nonresidential construction increased, which has served to increase the number of contracts for tender by industry operators. Early in the period, industry revenue declined slightly, as demand from energy extractors and commodities producers fell off due to a crash in commodities prices. The industry has since shaken off these headwinds and returned to growth. Over the next five years, the industry growth is expected to accelerate, expected to stem from rising demand for industry services and an improving mining sector.
Industry operators apply the physical laws and principles of engineering in designing, developing and using machines, materials, instruments, structures, processes and systems. These services may involve providing advice, preparing feasibility studies, preparing plans and designs, providing technical services during construction or development, inspecting and evaluating engineering projects and providing other related services.
This report covers the scope, size, disposition and growth of the industry including the key sensitivities and success factors. Also included are five year industry forecasts, growth rates and an analysis of the industry key players and their market shares.
