Contract Injection Molding Manufacturing
Operators in the Contract Injection Molding Manufacturing industry use injection molding machinery to provide products as inputs to a wide variety of downstream manufacturing industries that order customized parts on a contract basis. The five years to 2016 were characterized by continuing economic improvement in the United States. The most noteworthy rebound was the recovery of the automobile and construction sectors. In the five years to 2021, the industry will experience slower growth as the economy continues more assuredly on the path of stable growth.
This industry provides injection molding manufacturing services on a contract basis. Industry services include mold development from a prototype and the reproduction of parts from the mold using thermoplastic and thermosetting plastic materials. Operators feed the materials into a heated barrel, mix and then force them into a mold cavity where they cool and harden to the configuration of the cavity. Injection molded products are then manufactured according to the client’s specifications.
