Demand for soft drinks and broader commercial beverages experienced another soft quarter in Q2-17. Total soft drinks volumes advanced by less than 1% year on year, which was still a modest improvement from the previous quarter, while total commercial beverage volumes effectively held flat for the same period

The other commercial beverage categories (dairy, hot drinks and alcohol) for the most part had another tough quarter. Dairy drinks volumes continued along on their 1-2% rate of decline, led mainly by challenges in the white milk category. The outlook on alcoholic drinks is now significantly downgraded to reflect an expected slower pace of beer consumption than was previously thought. Hot drinks also remained deprived of volume gains for another quarter
