North American Broadband Tracker: Third Quarter 2015
The North American broadband market ended the third quarter of 2015 (3Q15) with an estimated million subscribers, a year-over-year (YoY) increase ofmillion subscribers. Broadband providers offering cable, fiber to the x, and satellite contributed to the increase in subscribers.
In the U.S. market, broadband providers gained an estimated million subscribers, when compared to the previous year’s quarter, to end 3Q15 with an estimated million subscribers. During this quarter, cable providers generated the highest number of net adds YoY, with million subscribers; while FTTx and satellite providers gained million and net adds, respectively. DSL recorded a net loss of million subscribers.
Canada ended 3Q15 with an estimated million subscribers; an increase of subscribers when compared to 3Q14. In contrast to the US market, Canada’s telco providers offering DSL and fiber services increased their number of subscribers by YoY; while cable providers gained an estimatedsubscribers YoY.
