Modeling South Africa’s Energy Landscape

Modeling South Africa’s Energy Landscape

A central database where information relating to South Africa's power supply and demand can be analysed does not exist. Every time an investor, an academic, or private or public organisation needs information on this, the research has to start from the beginning. This study considers a set of assumptions and models the power supply and demand in South Africa up till 2035, as well as models only the supply up till 2060. The results aim to explain how a centralised, interactive model will be more efficient and provide a platform to analyse the effects of changes in the energy mix. The alternative relies on speculative information that poses risks, especially if the information is outdated.
