Disaster Recovery-as-a-Service: 2016 Buyer’s Guide

Disaster Recovery-as-a-Service (DRaaS) has been a boon for cloud and managed service providers, with many bringing offers to market over the last three years. Cloud-based disaster recovery is a service that backs up not only data, but an organization’s environment to a hosted data center that can be activated as needed in the event of a server or site-wide outage. Providers report they have seen strong interest in and adoption of DRaaS services in the past three to five years. In Frost & Sullivan’s 2015 cloud survey, 78% of US-based IT decision-makers cited “improving business continuity/disaster recovery” as an important driver for cloud adoption. Particularly among small and midsized businesses, backup and recovery often represents an entry point to the cloud. DRaaS solutions offer a cost-effective means to protect their business systems and data, and to return to operation in the event of a system failure or larger, more catastrophic outage. This report provides users with a comprehensive comparison of the capabilities and features of 13 DRaaS providers.
