This report forecasts to 2026 US insulation demand in metric tons, square meter R-1 value, and nominal US dollars at the manufacturer level and production in nominal US dollars at the manufacturer level . Total demand in metric tons is segmented by material in terms of: fiberglass; foamed plastic; mineral wool; and other materials such as aerogels, cotton, and reflective insulation. Total demand is also segmented by market in square meter R-1 value as follows: residential buildings; nonresidential buildings; industrial and plant equipment; HVAC and air distribution; transportation equipment; appliances; and other markets such as nonbuilding construction, furniture, and packaging.

To illustrate historical trends, total demand in metric tons is provided in annual series from 2011 to 2021; total production by value, total demand in nominal US dollars at the manufacturer level and in square meters R-1 value, and the various segments are reported at five-year intervals for 2011, 2016, and 2021.

Both thermal and acoustic insulation are included in the scope of this report. Granulated mineral wool used in ceiling tiles is excluded.
