Soft drinks in the United Arab Emirates saw a poor performance in 2020, with both on-trade and off-trade volume sales seeing significant declines. Although the off-trade decline was partly attributable to COVID-19 and the lack of on-the-go consumption, it was also due to the fact that unit prices increased strongly in several soft drinks categories, including concentrates, RTD tea, RTD coffee and juice. This was due to the introduction of excise tax on all products with added sugar or sweeteners...
