After peaking at 83.0 million in 2021, the population of Germany will drop to 82.5 million by 2030, which will still represent an overall increase of 1.5% from 2015. Natural change has been negative in Germany for over three decades and this will continue up to 2030 due to a low and falling birth rate and increasing death rate. Net migration, although relatively high, will drop over 2015-2030 and will not be enough to mitigate population decline after 2021.
